Maritime News India – In a landmark move towards boosting India’s maritime self-reliance, BEML Ltd. and Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionize shipbuilding and maritime technologies. The partnership is set to drive innovation, enhance infrastructure capabilities, and accelerate the country’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the defence and marine sectors.

The MoU was exchanged between Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML Ltd., and Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Chairman & Managing Director, GSL, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

This strategic collaboration leverages BEML’s engineering expertise and GSL’s shipbuilding experience to develop cutting-edge solutions for India’s maritime sector. With a focus on research, manufacturing, and technological innovation, the partnership aims to reduce import dependency and strengthen indigenous capabilities in critical defence technologies.

  • Manufacturing of Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Composite Parts – Strengthening defence and commercial applications.
  • Development of Specialized Marine Equipment – Including cutter section dredgers and trailer suction hopper dredgers.
  • Utilization of GSL’s Ship Lift and Dry Dock Facilities – Supporting the repair and overhaul of yard crafts, tugs, and vessels for the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and merchant fleets.
  • Strategic Equipment Design for Marine Applications – Leveraging BEML’s technical expertise to develop customized solutions for India’s growing maritime needs.
