Maritime News, Mumbai, India: A spectacular gathering of maritime minds, policy architects, and sports champions marked the Grand Finale of the 62nd National Maritime Day 2025 at Bharat Ratnam – Mega Common Facilitation Centre, GJEPC, SEEPZ SEZ, Mumbai. With the theme ‘Samriddh Sagar – Viksit Bharat evam Neel Arth aur Harit Vikas Ke Liye Yuva’ (Prosperous Seas – Developed India and Youth for Blue Economy & Green Growth), the event paid tribute to India’s seafaring legacy and its emerging generation of maritime leaders.
Ministers and Maritime Leaders Call for Green Growth and Youth Engagement
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal (Ports, Shipping and Waterways) emphasized India’s rapid maritime progress enabled by policy reforms and infrastructure upgrades.
Secretary T.K. Ramachandran (IAS) highlighted initiatives focusing on sustainability and marine ecosystem protection.
Capt. B.K. Tyagi, CMD of Shipping Corporation of India, stressed youth leadership in maritime development, showcasing success stories and emerging opportunities supported by national maritime policies.
SEEPZ’s Vision for Maritime Synergies
Dnyaneshwar Patil, IAS, Development Commissioner, SEEPZ SEZ, drew parallels between SEEPZ’s industrial strengths and the shipping sector. He proposed cross-sector collaboration for mutual growth—particularly in shipbuilding and maritime training.

A National Celebration of Maritime Excellence

Cultural programs by maritime cadets added color to the event. The welcome address was delivered by Atul Ubale, and the vote of thanks by Dr. Raut Pandurang, concluding a day of pride, passion, and purpose for India’s maritime future.
