Singapore : Singapore has taken a significant step towards a greener maritime industry with the launch of Southeast Asia’s first electric lighter craft, the Hydromover.

The Hydromover, developed by Yinson GreenTech (YGT) in collaboration with the Goal Zero Consortium, is a fully electric vessel designed for cargo transportation in harbors. It has a capacity of 25 tonnes and can operate for up to eight hours on a single charge.

The launch of the Hydromover marks a pivotal moment in Singapore’s journey towards the electrification of harbor craft. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has set a target of electrifying 10% of all harbor craft by 2030, and the Hydromover is a key step towards achieving this goal.

“The launch of the Hydromover is a significant milestone for Singapore’s maritime sector,” said Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Transport. “It demonstrates our commitment to innovation and sustainability, and it paves the way for a greener future for our maritime industry.”
