President virtually inaugurated a multi-model logistic park in Odisha

President Droupadi Murmu Hopes Samudrayaan Mission will provide valuable insights into the ocean’s depths and develop new technologies for deep-sea exploration.

Odisha, India : President Droupadi Murmu today expressed her hope that the Samudrayaan Mission, India’s first manned ocean mission to explore the deep ocean, will be a great success. She said the mission will study deep-sea resources and biodiversity at a depth of 6,000 meters and that the country will achieve success like the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

The President was speaking at the Boita Bandana (worshiping the boats) ceremony at Paradip in her home state of Odisha, organized by the Paradip Port Trust. She noted that India has a long coastline of about 7,500 kilometers and that the maritime business of the country plays a big role in world economic activities. She also called upon Indian ports to be more equipped with better infrastructure and an efficient workforce to meet the different challenges in the field.

The President also called upon youths to be job providers rather than job seekers. She said they can shape their career in entrepreneurship and other business-related activities to make their life and that of others better. This way, the President said, the country would soon be known as “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”.

On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, the President flagged off a special boat to commemorate Odisha’s ancient maritime glory.

In addition, the President virtually inaugurated a multi-model logistic park and laid the foundation stones for a new reservoir and water treatment plant for the port township and a next-generation vessel traffic management and information system.

Union Ministers Shripad Yesso Naik, Bisweswar Tudu, Shantanu Thakur, and Odisha Governor Raghubar Das were present with the President.

About Samudrayaan Mission

The Samudrayaan Mission is a manned deep-ocean mission that aims to explore the deep sea for resources and biodiversity. The mission will send three astronauts to a depth of 6,000 meters in a submersible vehicle called MATSYA 6000.

The mission is expected to provide valuable insights into the ocean’s depths and help India develop new technologies for deep-sea exploration.
