Over 100 Participants Gear Up for Thrilling Regatta from October 16-19
Maritime News India : Ezhimala, India – The Indian Navy is all set to host its largest sailing regatta, the Indian Navy Sailing Championship (INSC), at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) from October 16 to 19, 2024. This highly anticipated event promises to showcase the sailing prowess of over 100 participants from various commands of the Indian Navy.
The Marakkar Watermanship Training Centre (MWTC), renowned for its top-notch sailing facilities, will be the venue for this championship, which aims to enhance competitive sailing among naval personnel. Participants, including officers, cadets, sailors, and Agniveers, will compete in five different classes of boats across three racing formats.
Exciting Racing Formats
This year’s INSC will feature four popular sailing formats. Fleet Racing will include competitions in the International Laser Class Association (ILCA-6) class for women, ILCA-7 class for men, and the Bic Beach class for windsurfing. Additionally, Team Racing will take place in the Enterprise class boat, fostering teamwork and strategy among participants.
Promoting Seamanship and Leadership
The Indian Navy places significant emphasis on watermanship activities, recognizing sailing as a vital avenue for developing essential skills such as seamanship, camaraderie, and leadership qualities.
