Cochin : DP World Cochin, India’s gateway to the south and a leading transshipment hub, marked a significant milestone in its expansion and modernization plan with the arrival of two colossal Ship-to-Shore (STS) Mega Max cranes on December 9th. This investment underscores the terminal’s unwavering commitment to remain at the forefront of maritime infrastructure and cater to the ever-growing demands of global trade.

Standing tall at 51 meters under the spreader bar and boasting a 67-meter outreach, these titans of the quayside can effortlessly handle up to 25 container rows. Their sheer presence instantly empowers International Container Transhipment Terminal ( ICTT ) to tackle the behemoths of the sea – Ultra-Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) – solidifying its position as a premier gateway for South India and a key transshipment hub for the entire nation.

“DP World’s unwavering commitment is to consistently elevate operational excellence and provide customer service of the highest standards,” declared Praveen Thomas Joseph, CEO, DP World Cochin. “The arrival of these Mega Max cranes, alongside our recent acquisition of four e-RTGs, dramatically enhances ICTT’s capabilities. We are now better equipped than ever to move the world’s cargo efficiently, enabling regional customers to transport their volumes with unparalleled speed, safety, and sustainability for years to come.”

ICTT’s impressive connectivity, with direct service links to over 12 ports across both Indian coasts and a multitude of international destinations in the Middle East, Far East, Europe, and the Mediterranean, solidifies its position as one of the best-connected terminals in the south and east of India. This extensive network, coupled with the terminal’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and unwavering dedication to operational excellence, positions ICTT to play a pivotal role in India’s maritime future.

The arrival of these Mega Max cranes signifies more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it’s a testament to DP World Cochin’s vision for the future. It’s a promise to continually adapt and evolve, embracing technological advancements and anticipating the ever-changing needs of global trade. With these formidable giants now gracing the Cochin skyline, one thing is certain – DP World Cochin is preparing to navigate the maritime landscape with even greater efficiency, resilience, and a commitment to sustainable growth.
