In a significant milestone for the logistics industry, the Federation of Freight Forwarders‘ Associations in India (FFFAI) has inaugurated its first batch of trainees at the newly launched FFFAI Skill Development Center in Dronagiri. This initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0), a government-led skill development program aimed at empowering India’s youth with industry-relevant expertise.
The event was graced by several key dignitaries, including D.S. Garbyal (IRS), Commissioner of Customs, Nhava Sheva-I, and Dr. Minakshi Vijayant Gupta, Principal of Uran Education Society’s College of Management and Technology. Notable members of the FFFAI, such as Dushyant Mulani, Chairman, Shankar Shinde, Immediate Past Chairman, and Dr. Pramod Sant, Director General, were also present, underscoring the importance of this initiative in the logistics sector.
During his welcome address, Dr. Pramod Sant emphasized the growing need for skilled professionals in logistics, particularly as India strengthens its position as a global logistics hub. D.S. Garbyal echoed this sentiment, stating that effective skilling in logistics is critical for streamlining operations and enhancing India’s competitiveness in the global market.
In her remarks, Dr. Minakshi Gupta praised the collaboration between educational institutions and industry bodies, noting that job-oriented programs like the one initiated by FFFAI will provide much-needed opportunities for students.
Dushyant Mulani highlighted the potential growth opportunities in the logistics sector, referencing major projects such as Vadhvan Port and the increasing demand for skilled manpower. Tej Contractor, President of the Indian Institute of Freight Forwarders (IIFF), stressed the importance of advanced training programs in ensuring India’s global competitiveness.
The event, which coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, was described by Shankar Shinde as a momentous occasion in India’s logistics history. He noted that the new skill center represents a significant step towards bridging the gap between industry demands and available skilled professionals.
