Adani Foundation Helps 111 Persons with Disabilities Get Jobs

The Adani Foundation in alignment with APSEZ and 20 other companies provided jobs to 111 and Livelihood support to 50 Disabled Persons to become self-employed.
Bhuj, Gujarat: The Adani Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Adani Group, has helped 111 persons with disabilities get jobs in a large-scale employment fair organized in Mundra ahead of the International Day of People with Disabilities on 03 December 2023. The event was held in Bhuj, Kutch district of Gujarat and saw 111 persons with disabilities receive appointment letters. The candidates have received employment in Adani Group and other companies located in and around Mundra.
The Adani Foundation worked in alignment with APSEZ and 20 other companies to identify and place the candidates. As a result, 111 candidates received jobs and 50 candidates received equipment support to become self-employed.
“We are augmenting our efforts in this direction, as part of which more than 100 persons with disabilities received employment opportunities at Adani and many other companies,” said Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Group. “As a society, each one of us should contribute to this cause and I pledge to contribute whole-heartedly to this mission.”
The Adani Foundation’s Swavalamban project has been supporting differently-abled persons since 2014. The project helps them become self-reliant through a variety of initiatives, including providing equipment support, organizing employment fairs, facilitating Government schemes, and supporting creative and entrepreneurial aspirations. Till date, Swavalamban project has supported over 800 individuals.
“The Adani Foundation’s efforts mark a new beginning,” said V.J. Rajput, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. “We need to identify the innate talent of persons with disabilities and help them to become self-reliant in the society.”
The Adani Foundation also provides awareness and counselling to avail disability certificate as well as benefits under different Government schemes, such as bus pass, pension, and e-shram card. Many are also supported with equipment like hand cart, flour mill machine, sewing machine, cabin to set up shop, walker, prosthetic limbs, rickshaw etc.
“The Adani Foundation works across India in many areas in the social development sector, but this is one of the core areas of focus in Mundra for the last seven years,” said Vasant Gadhavi, Executive Director, Adani Foundation. “We remain committed to take these efforts to the next level in the times to come.”
The sustainable livelihood opportunities provided by the Adani Foundation enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities, while promoting inclusive and diverse communities.
“I am thankful to the Adani Foundation for helping me get employment that aligns well with my capabilities and skills,” said Vishnu Prajapati, one of the candidates.
“I am hopeful that in the future too, the Foundation will set a remarkable example by continuing to do meaningful work for the welfare of the community,” said Avni Jethva, another candidate.
