Governor N Indrasena Reddy Visits Srimantapur Land Port: Highlights Cleanliness and Security

Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu conducted an extensive visit to the Srimantapur Land Port in Sonamura, Tripura subdivision this morning. Upon arrival, he was greeted with a Guard of Honour by the BSF jawans, symbolizing the strong cooperation between the border security forces.

Site Inspection and Religious Ceremony

The Governor inspected the jetty on the Gomati River, constructed as a part of the port infrastructure, and took part in the traditional Ganga Puja on the riverbanks. His visit highlighted the cultural and religious significance of the region and the importance of maintaining harmony in border areas.

Interaction with Border Forces

During his visit, Governor Reddy also interacted with members of the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) stationed at the India-Bangladesh border. In a gesture of goodwill, he distributed sweets to the BGB personnel, reinforcing the cross-border camaraderie and cooperation between the two nations.

Focus on Port Infrastructure and Security

While visiting the various departments of the Srimantapur Land Port, the Governor expressed concerns about the port’s security and infrastructure. He instructed Debashis Nandi, the manager in charge of the land port, and BSF DIG Rajiv Agnihotri to focus on enhancing both safety and operational efficiency at the port.

Cleanliness of Gomati River

In a meeting with journalists, Governor Reddy emphasized the importance of keeping the Gomati River clean and pollution-free. Highlighting the significance of World Rivers Day, he stressed the need for maintaining cleanliness on both sides of the river to ensure ecological balance and sustainability.

The Governor’s visit was accompanied by notable figures, including Dr Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, District Magistrate of Sepahijala District, and BSF DIG Rajiv Agnihotri. Raj Bhavan released a press statement detailing the Governor’s visit and his commitments to the future of the land port.
